The carpet capital 10 miler has been run continuously since its inception in 1988 as the basf road race. The carpet capital running club is a member of the road runners club of america ever since its inception in 1982. In 1995 the carpet capital running club took on complete sponsorship of the race and it was renamed the carpet capital 10 miler. The carpet capital running club exists to encourage excellence through the development of runners of all ages and ability levels and promote fitness and health throughout dalton georgia and surrounding communities.

It is one of the stops in the run see georgia grand prix and is currently the rrca state championship race at the 10 mile distance. Entrants come not only from georgia but from several surrounding states. The carpet club is committed to making the people of dalton s club and the surrounding places of georgia a hub of fitness and good health.
